First Day of School!

Time has flown by so quickly, there are two pre-schoolers living my house now! I can't believe it, Em and Ted have both gotten so big.

Emma had a great day of school on Monday! She said she loves her teachers, and was very excited to take her lunch box with and eat at school with her friends! So hard to believe that she will be 4 years old this year!

Ted did great too! He ran into his classroom with lots of enthusiasm. And the little booger didn't miss me for a second, he looked back and said "bye mom"! His teacher said he an awesome day today!

So proud of my little guys!

Do You Remember Where You Were.......9/11/2001?

It's so hard to believe that the Twin Towers went down 8 years ago. I will always remember what I was doing that day 8 years ago. My mom was at work and asked me to bring her lunch that day, and I was getting ready to leave, she called to tell me I couldn't get into the unit she was on because the VA was on lock down, just as she said that, I saw what was going on on the television, and I looked over at my brother and said "is this a movie, or is this for real?"

That whole day felt like we were living in a different time period. It felt like a dream, and that any minute I would wake up from. My thoughts went back 60 years to how those poor men and women who were attacked during Pearl Harbor. I couldn't help but think how could this be happening it's 2001?

Life seemed to go on after that fateful day as Americans each of our lives was changed in some way. One thing is certain, as the anniversary of this tragic day comes and goes each year, we will always remember where were and what we were doing on September 11, 2001.

The Other Woman!

Dan and I have been keeping a secret now for the past 6 months, and it is that he is having an affair! Yes, Dan has taken up with our cocker spaniel. It was very discrete at first, but gradually he and the dog have developed feelings for one another!

Who would have thought another woman would take my place in my hubby's heart, but it has happened. Dan used to come home and give me a peck on the cheek, and ask how my day had been. Now it is all about Lissie! He comes home gives the dog a peck, a belly rub, and asks her how her day was! How the hell hard do you think her day was....She's a damn dog! The dog has even claimed my side of the bed! What should I do? I mean look at that dog, and that cute little face, how can I deny her the things I love so dear....especially my side of the bed!

Good Bye Summer 2009!

It feels so weird that summer is coming to a close! It has been a summer of 9 straight days of rain, one of my children riding their first roller coaster, awesome trips, friends, and lots of FUN! We even had a one trip to the ER for Mommy, and it wasn't because one of the kiddos was hurt!

As summer is coming to a close the reality of having TWO pre-schoolers is setting in! There will be new memories to be made, and many firsts to be had!

Good bye Summer 2009, and Thanks for the MEMORIES!

ATTITUDE!

Never in my life did I think that the attitude that comes with raising a little girl would come so soon! Recently Emma has developed this little tude.....Wait! HUMONGOUS tude whenever I say anything to her, that usually ends in her saying "Whatever" with her rolling eyes, and letting out huge breath!

My mother's voice keeps popping into my head saying " I hope you have 10 girls with an attitude as big as yours."

Thanks Mom.....I got those 10 girls all rolled into one Emma Louise Miller! By day she is a little angel, by night she turns into Emma Miller devil child! This has seriously made me wonder what the teenage years are going to be like, and will we BOTH survive it? Will we survive age 3 and will we even make it to 4?

And Now A Word From Our Emma

The other day at dinner Dan and I were talking about his day at work, and all of a sudden Emma pipes up and says "Daddy will you please be quiet, I am trying to think"

Needless to say we laughed pretty hard!

Memorial Day Weekend 2009

This year we decided to take the kids to Dutch Wonderland for Memorial Day weekend. Lois (mother-in-law) gave me a season pass this year for my birthday, so off went with Yia-Yia in tow (my mom).

First, of all it was sooooo HOT and HUMID, but so much FUN! The kids really enjoyed the whip! Teddy could seriously ride the whip all day long, and he would be a happy camper! The other rides not so much! Emma loves the turtle whirl, she, Daddy, and Yia-Yia rode that 3 times! Surprisingly, for a holiday weekend the lines were not long at all!

The only mishap of the day was when our neighbors called to tell us that could not get into the house to let Lissie out! Total panic! Everything worked out, and they ended up going through a window to get into the house to unlock the door so the poor dog could go out and pee! Next time we promise not to lock the storm door so maybe you guys can actually get into the house through the door, and not the window! Both kids slept the whole way home!

On Monday Teddy went to stay with mom for a night, and spend time with his favorite person in the world....Pop-Pop.....Could this be because Pop-Pop is always loading him candy, and all sorts yummy snacks? Emma hung around the house, and played with her new friend Alex who just moved in down the street!

It was just a nice, fun, relaxing weekend!

Great Wolf Lodge

This post is very long overdue! The last weekend in April we took the kids to the Great Wolf Lodge in the Poconos. The trip was awesome! They have an indoor water park, and tons of things for the kids to do! Em and Ted were in heaven! We would totally this to people with kids! Here are some pictures of the our trip!

Somewhere Over The Rainbow!

Monday marks the anniversary of my Aunt Em's passing. She was one of my favorite Aunts. When I was little girl Aunt Em was my babysitter, we used to all sorts of things. One of the things we used to do was watch re-runs of " I Love Lucy" and "The Golden Girls. Her laugh used to fill the room, she was always in the mood for a good joke or a prank, which I used to play on her often.

One of Aunt Em's favorite things to do was watch old movies, and our favorite movie to watch together was "The Wizard of Oz". Which is how she became known to me as Aunt Em(everyone esle called her Aunt Sissy). I used to call her house Kansas, and her poodle was Toto. I remember standing in her backyard saying"Auntie Em, Auntie Em a twister"!

She was such a warm person, who would always end every phone conversation with "Don't forget to give my little doll babies a kiss". Aunt Em is very missed, but we know that she is "somewhere over the rainbow" sharing her wit, kindness, and a game of cards with everyone she meets!

My Name Is......

For those of you who don't know Ted's full name is Theodore Roosevelt Miller II. He is named of Dan's father who was born on Teddy Roosevelt's birthday. Anyway when we really need to get Emma and Teddy's attention we will call them by their first, middle, and last name. The other day Em was being her typical "brasin raisin" self. This is how the conversation went.

Me: Emma Lousie Miller, please settle down!

Emma: My name is not Emma Louise Miller. I'm Emma Roosevelt!

All I can say is that is my Emma!

Parent Teacher Conference

Thursday was my first experience with parent teacher conferences as a "parent"! Needless to say I was very nervous about what Mrs.Ellis was going to say about Emma because we never know what is going to come of that child's mouth. Standing in the hall waiting my turn was total agony! Mrs. Ellis said she is very proud of Em's progress thus far, and feels her vocabulary is very good for a 3 year old! She also said that Emma is very chatty at times and a complete pleasure to have in class! We are very proud of Emma!

Our New Baby!

We have been trying to get Dan to get a dog for a long time. Today we adopted a 7 year old cockerspanile from the SPCA named Lissie! She was a breeding dog, and her former owners left her at the shelter because they had no use for her anymore! She has found her forever home here, and is a muched loved new addition to our family!

All "Growed" Up!

There has been a lot of change here this week, and though it is all welcomed change....It is still kind of sad realizing that my babies are starting to be "growed up" as Em would say.

The first big change happened when Emma gave the binky up, Well okay she didn't willingly give it up, but she hasn't asked for it in days, which is a "HUGE" accomplishment for her. Then on last Sunday we took Em to pick her new "Big" Girl bed, and they delivered it on Thursday. She was so happy and excited to pick her bed, and new sheets. We have now entered "The High School Musical" zone!

Now, for my baby boy! He now has little man hair! Daddy took him to get his haircut on Friday, and he came home with a whole new style! I do have to say he looks like a little stud! Teddy also experienced giving Valentine's out for the first time at school! Teddy was invited to his first Valentine's Day party yesterday, boy did he have an awesome time! I went to give him a kiss, and he pushed me away and said " NO, Mom!".

It so hard to believe that we are leaving the baby stages behind and turning into independent toddlers!

Mommy and Me Tea

Yesterday at Emma's school they had their Mommy and me Tea. It consisted of little heart shaped cakes, and pink lemonade. The hightlight of the day was the kids singing their Valentines songs. They did an awesome job, were all very proud!

Shoe Shopping

In the last couple of weeks Teddy has really gone through a growth spurt. Today I noticed that his shoes had gotten too small, off to Stride rite we went. Anyway Teddy has also been potty training this week, and doing very well to say the least for only being two, he does not want to wear a diaper. So honoring this we just were briefs, and went out. While I was looking at sneakers, Emma and Teddy decided to go over and play with some of the toys that they have in the store. All of a sudden I hear the store clerk squeal, and start laughing really hard. I looked over my shoulder to see what was going on, and to my horror, my son had stripped himself down completely naked, and was running around the store! I couldn't believe my eyes! This is something that happens to someone else! As I get closer to him, I realize the reason he had taken at least his pants off was because he had an accident, and needed clean pants, and underware. Needless to say it all turned out okay, after several apologies to people in the store for my little streaker, we bought Teddy his new shoes, and headed straight for the door. 18 can not come fast for Teddy, there will be tons of stories for me to tell ALL of his girlfriends!
